Blurred Text on DVD Menu - Not at all familiar with your DVD authoring software, but when setting up the track menu, try using only 4 or 6 chapter thumbnails per page. Also check under the settings for the bitrate used on the menu .set it at 8000 kbs. Should take care of your problem....

Confused by the aspect ratio coming out of my camcorder: 720x480 != 16x9 - To clear you on your first post, it's actually alot simpler that it looks. If you can do algebra, you don't have to think much more than solving for the unknown from a simple mathematical equation:
Width / Height = DAR (Display Aspect Ratio) / PAR (Pixel Aspect Ratio)
It's always this way....

viewing a QVGA/VGA resolution video with NTSC DV resolution (with a TV) - I have questions:
What will you see if you edited a QVGA or a VGA resolution video and to be viewed on a TV (which in NTSC format)?
Is it chunky? is it blurred? Because I'll edit a movie with a low-resolution camera (low budget) and I have VGA resolution digital camera at 30fps. I'll present it to my prof.. My only worry is having low-quality ...

slow playback on 1080p videos with COREAVC - How about converting one of the files to 1080p XVID and seeing if the machine can keep up. That'll at least tell you if it's the codec. I have a feeling it's your hardware. Integrated video card on the motherboard, slower hard drive, low power consumption CPU - all great stuff on a laptop that's surfing the net, not so good for 1080p playback....

Testing with a digital converter box on a cable system. -
1. The cable company has very old tech and is poor and will go out of business if forced to continue analog locals until 2012. These companies can petition the FCC to allow all digital service but must offer a cable box that can tune the locals at no extra fee for current analog basic customers. These basic customers won't be getting MTV et. al ....

How to convert DVD TV episodes to AVI Xvid or MP4 H264 with subtitles - Might be a noobish post.
Is the end result supposed to be just 1 big avi file? Wondering how to end up with a seperate avi file for each episode.
Fair Use does detect all the episodes separately, I select the separate episodes instead of the 1 big selection. Still end up with 1 avi file.
Me too, i also end up with 1 single AVI file, its ...

x264 -- during play the video gets currupted in some scenes - I'm not offended whether you like x264 or not. I personally don't use it since it doesn't fit my needs, but I can see how it can be very useful otherwise. But corrupt streams are something I've never seen from it.
Glad it worked with another player. And it could indeed be VLC since there are two other similar "hiccups" I've discovered otherwis ...

DVD w/ two versions (theatrical and unrated)... problem - smartripper did the magic.
Ripped vob's with DVDFab and smartripper let me choose version I want to encode. I didn't know how to set all those options in Settings tab so I left them at default. Fast, also, since it reads vob files from folder not disc.
Thanks agains for the great tip~!...

Rippping Encrypted VIDEO_TS Folder (MAC) - The newest version of MTR (3.0 r14m) is the year old one i referred to.
